Minoru INAGAKI's Profile
Born in Akashi City,HYOGO Prefecture, Japan.
Starts playing the guitar at the age of eleven
and studies under Mr. Hiroshi Samoto and Mr. Toshiaki Kondo.
1975 Wins the first prize in the 2nd Japan Guitar Competition (Osaka).
1977 Goes to France. Enrolls in the Guitar Course of Paris Conservatory and studies
under Mr. A. Lagoya.
1980 Graduates from Paris Conservatory with top honors (Premier Prix).
Wins the first prize in the Paris U.F.A.M. International Music Competition.
Wins the first prize in the 6th Segovia International Guitar Competition (Spain).
1981 Gains the first rank in the 6th Gargnano International Guitar Competition (Italy).
1982 Gives a recital as a representative Japanese guitarist during the "Japan Week"joint-hosted by the governments of both Spain and Japan.
1984 Passes the Budding Artist Audition hosted by Georges Cziffra.
1985 Appeared as a guest in the UNESCO 40th Anniversary, a France TV program.
1987 Wins the first prize in the Sabre International Guitar Competition (France).
1988 Performs in the Segovia Memorial Concert in France hosted by the Spanish Embassy. Returns to Japan.
Performs in the "FM Recital" hosted by NHK. Holds debut recitalsat the Vario Hall in Tokyo and at the Aqua Culture Hall in Osaka.
1993 Receives the Art Festival Award in the Music Category of the 48th Art Festival hosted by Japanese Cultural Affairs Agency.
1994 Releases three CD albums titled "Sonatina", "Fantasia", and "Reverie". Each ofthem is highly admired by various magazines, receiving the special praise as the special praise of the Record Art, for example.
1995 Awarded the 1995 Hyogo Prefecture Art Encouragement Prize by HyogoPrefecture.
Also in the same year, the name "Inagaki" was given to a newfound comet byMr.Tsutomu Seki, widely known as a discoverer of the Comet Ikeya-Seki, andbecame the second guitarist following Segovia to have his name on a comet.
1996-
1997
Invited as a guest to the Guitar Festival hosted by Japan Guitar Association(J.G.A.) consecutively in 1996 and 1997.
1998 November
J.S.Bach's Italian Concerto BWV 971 for two guitars (Collaboration by Inagakiand Matsumoto) is published by Gendai Guitar Co, Ltd.
1999 June
Costars with the Janacek Quartet, a prestige in Czech, at the Tokyo BunkaKaikan and is highly praised for the performance.
July
A CD album titled Italian Concerto (J.S.Bach), a guitar duo, is released by EXTON.
2001 April
Invited as a representative Japanese guitarist to and performs in the 5th International Guitar Festival in Vendome, France, winning high praise for the performance.
Recently, along with solo stuff, he is expanding his activities to the field of chamber music,
and has given concerts and lecture classes in countries as France, Spain, Italy, Switzerland,
South Korea, and Japan. He is also appears on TV and radio, performing wide range of activities.
